Therestofhisdaywasmorethanfilledwithroad-making,buildingwater-mills,attendingthesickandamillionotherthings. Inspiteofhisbeingsounwillingtobecomeaking,JohnDolittlemadeaverygoodone—oncehegotstarted. Hemaynothavebeenasdignifiedasmanykingsinhistorywhowerealwaysrunningofftowarandgettingthemselvesintoromanticsituations;butsinceIhavegrownupandseensomethingofforeignlandsandgovernmentsIhaveoftenthoughtthatPopsipetelunderthereignofJongThinkalotwasperhapsthebestruledstateinthehistoryoftheworld.
