Ofthetwoladies,onewaswelladvancedinyears;butthehigh-backedoakenchairinwhichshesat,wasnotmoreuprightthanshe. Theveryintelligencethatshoneinherdeepblueeye,andwasstampeduponhernoblehead,seemedscarcelyofherage,oroftheworld;andyetthechangingexpressionofsweetnessandgoodhumour,thethousandlightsthatplayedabouttheface,andleftnoshadowthere;aboveall,thesmile,thecheerful,happysmile,weremadeforHome,andfiresidepeaceandhappiness.
