SnowWhitewanderedonandontillshegotthroughtheforestandcametoamountainhutandknockedatthedoor,butshegotnoreply.Shewassotiredthatsheliftedupthelatchandwalkedin,andthereshesawthreelittlebedsandthreelittlechairsandthreelittlecupboardsallreadyforuse.Andshewentuptothefirstbedandlaydownuponit,butitwassohardthatshecouldn'trest;andthenshewentuptothesecondbedandlaydownuponthat,butthatwassosoftthatshegottoohotandcouldn'tgotosleep.Soshetriedthethirdbed,butthatwasneithertoohardnortoosoft,butsuitedherexactly;andshefellasleepthere.
Intheeveningtheownersofthehut,whowerethreelittledwarfswhoearnedtheirlivingbydiggingcoalinthehills,camebacktotheirhome.Andwhentheycamein,aftertheyhadwashedthemselves,theywenttotheirbeds,andthefirstofthemsaid:
"Somebodyhasbeensleepinginmybed!"
Andthenthesecondonesaid:
"Andsomebody'sbeensleepinginmybed!"
Andthethirdonecalledoutinashrillvoice,forhewassoexcited:
"Somebodyissleepinginmybed,justlookhowbeautifulsheis!"
Sotheywaitedtillshewokeup,andaskedherhowshehadcomethere,andshetoldthemallthatthehunterhadsaidtoherabouttheQueenwantingtoslayher.
Thenthedwarfsaskedherifshewouldbewillingtostopwiththemandkeephouseforthem;andshesaidthatshewouldbedelighted.
